Thank Bill, for this exhortation. I/we so need to hear these words, to appreciate that YHWH is ever gracious and His compassion/chesed fails not, and HE removes all guilt from me from my past wrong doings. Thank YOU, ABBA! YOU are such a wonderful EL!

    Spoken very well brother….

My journey through this Wilderness has taught me that the finite purpose of Mankind is to LEARN HOW TO LOVE ONE ANOTHER…

The discipline acquired by keeping His statutes is the template for developing every relationship… that is why we are admonished to teach them to our “Children in the Shema”
For if we do so, we are not just giving them LOVE/Adoni, but teaching “HOW” TO LOVE; ADONI, father, mother, brother, sister, neighbor etc., etc.

I need to change the channel for a moment, as it is weighing in my heart to ask; if you would share why you are choosing to follow the Hillel calendar format… ?

I will tell you upfront that I am no calendar scholar or fanatic, but a sojourner of Torah Truth… and welcome all rebuke by His word…. for then I will have gained Binah/Understanding…

Why so many wrestle with Conjunction OR Sliver is beyond me; when the “PATTERN” has been set from the beginning; DARKNESS TO LIGHT.

“EVERYTHING” IS PATTERNED AFTER THIS PRINCIPLE…., Creation, the Heavens, the Day, to the mechanics of the physical for every seed and creature, to the Spiritual life, to the Messiah; IT IS ALWAYS, DARKNESS TO LIGHT..

Certainly Messiah emulates this in His burial and resurrection reflecting a corn of wheat falling into the ground and dying, and bringing forth much fruit…

Changing the pattern to begin the month with light rather than darkness is CONFUSION…

Though there be those that say that it really doesn’t matter, and God would accept it, which by the way; I agree with because one can’t hold a child accountable for what they do NOT KNOW; YET, IT DOES MATTER….

In another vernacular; If every year on your birthday some of your children celebrated your birthday on a day that is not your birthday, though you thank and appreciate the gesture, wouldn’t you truly be able to rejoice with those that get it right ? After all, there are “special party favors, ice cream and surprises for the occasion….

In my understanding the others are missing the party….

Happy (belated) Birthday to Alison…. I have some more new drawings if it’s ok to send, but I still don’t know if she ever received the one I sent for Purim last yr.

I also wanted to ask you if Sukkot is meant to be done only in the LAND… ?

Because, in a nutshell, I don’t know that anyone can be absolutely certain at this point. I will concede that there are flaws in the Hillel calendar but at the same time I think there is something to be said for unity. Mind you, not at any cost but in this particular case, i believe the need for unity and doing what is right trumps being right. Not only that, but in Deuteronomy 17 it says this:

“If there arise a matter too hard for you in judgment, between blood and blood, between plea and plea, and between stroke and stroke, being matters of controversy within your gates: then shall you arise, and get you up into the place which the LORD your God shall choose; 9And you shall come unto the priests the Levites, and unto the judge that shall be in those days, and enquire; and they shall show you the sentence of judgment: 10And you shall do according to the sentence, which they of that place which the LORD shall choose shall show you; and you shall observe to do according to all that they inform you: 11According to the sentence of the law which they shall teach you, and according to the judgment which they shall tell you, you shall do: you shall not decline from the sentence which they shall show you, to the right hand, nor to the left. 12And the man that will do presumptuously, and will not hearken unto the priest that stands to minister there before the LORD your God, or unto the judge, even that man shall die: and you shall put away the evil from Israel.”

I am certainly not the final authority on this or any other issue, but this is my position as it stands today. The calendar issue is one of those that was decided long ago and, the way I read this, I’m obligated for the sake of unity in Israel, to follow that which was established by elders of Israel. .
