Bill; when I was reading the Torah for this week, I saw something I haven’t seen before but I know you have; it is the MOST HOLY OF OFFERING IN LEVITICUS 2 VERSES 3 &10,; IT’S THE MEAL OFFERING.It just jumped off the page at me.Because I saw YA’SHUA AS THE BREAD OF LIFE HERE.WOW!!WOW!!

Hi Bill – I appreciate you very much. Your comment about the word Bar meaning pure (or purity) is interesting because of its appearance also in Psalm 2 verse 12 where the word Bar is translated in most English Bibles as Son. I do not agree with this translation as “son” because the only time that Bar is used as son (as in Bar Mitzvah) is when this word is used in Aramaic. I do not think that Aramaic is used in the Book of Psalms. Do you know of another place where Bar is translated as “son” when it rendered in Hebrew?

    • Bill says:

Ed; off the top of my head, no I don’t know of any other rendering of bar as “son.” I agree with you that this translation in Psalm 2 should be “pure” or “purity.” The admonition is actually “embrace purity” rather than “kiss the son.” That being said, I do find it significant that the Aramaic term means son because those who do embrace purity are those He regards as “sons” and daughters. Shalom.

I am truly blessed to have come to know your ministry.. I have been following your torah commentaries and listening to the daily devotions. It is a rare to find a teacher from the States who has a knowledge of Biblical Hebrew. I hope one day to to meet you either here in Israel or if I come to the States on business.
